When choosing decorations for your Christmas home, look for the things that will reflect your everyday style rather than replace it. Creating a coastal style Christmas is the focus of part 2 of our 2021 tour.
I sincerely hope you’ve enjoyed part 1 of this year’s home tour! Although it included the most used rooms in the house, some of my favorite things are highlighted here.
Christmas Coastal Style
If you follow the blog then you know that the lower level of our home is dedicated to our love of the sea. Always done in a coastal style, we try to keep that vibe in tact during the Christmas season.
Part of creating a Christmas coastal vibe is through the soothing colors of the sea. The blue glass trees on the mantel together with the starfish work well here.
The tree in the lower level family room is decorated with white and turquoise lights. Ornaments that we’ve picked up on beach trips throughout the years make it so special. Others given to us by those who know us so well are among our Christmas treasures as well.
Our beachy Santas, gifts from my favorite sister-in-law, bring a bit of fun to the room.
The bar is always a popular spot in this part of our home. A few holiday touches there and we’re ready to serve!
A Magical Christmas Village
This part of the house is also home to our extensive lighted Christmas Village. Both being collectors before we met, we merged our village pieces into the magical scene they create today.
I’ve tried every possible way to condense it into a single picture but with no luck. I simply don’t have the necessary equipment. I’ve included the best I could do below.
The picture is only to give you an idea of the scale. If you’d like to see it in all its glory, moving and set to music, you can check out on one of the links below.
The village starts in the mountains, moves through the woods and the valley, then crosses the ocean to the North Pole.
Of course we would need an ocean! We incorporated one into the scene years ago and it’s become our favorite part. We’ve decided our house is just below the lighthouse and inches from the sand. We can see ships in the harbor and the occasional whale from our window. Someday!
Through the use of several power strips and extension cords, the entire village lights with the flip of one switch. Flipping that switch has caused a few arguments among our littlest visitors. We’ve learned the best way to handle that is by convincing them that the magic switch can only be turned on with all little hands on top of it. The work it takes setting up each year is forgotten when the village comes to life before their eyes!
Coastal Style Vibes in the Guest Room
The lower level guest room is a favorite of family and friends alike. Since it is not in our main living space, it is much more private than the guest rooms upstairs. Once our daughter’s room in her teenage years, I’ve kept the wicker pieces when she moved to California. It was much easier to purchase new out there than to move everything from Colorado. Besides, can you get a better beachy vibe than white wicker? I think not!
Since Katie will be the next one to use this room when she comes home for Christmas, I dug out her old Christmas doll to surprise her. A “Welcome home/ early Christmas gift and her favorite Christmas coffee mug is ready for her too. Nobody is more excited then her mama!
She has always wanted to live on the coast and moved there the minute she had the chance. We put an ocean pic outside her window way back when and it remains today.
A few more coastal touches and we’re ready!
I added a little bit of Christmas to the bath for good measure!
