Decorating for the summer months is such fun. Giving the house a complete makeover each season is something I really look forward to. However, a friend pointed out that while she would love adding a seasonal look to her home, she doesn’t have the time or space to do it. I beg to differ! These 3 simple summer vignette ideas will take less than five minutes to put together start to finish! If space is at a premium at your house, concentrating your seasonal elements in a movable tray or basket is the perfect thing as well!
Coastal Basket Vignette
I love going a bit coastal this time of year. Maybe it’s the summer vacations of the past or simply just our love of the sea, but summer says “beach” to me. No matter what your decor is, a coastal vignette will fit right in for the summer months.
Sand, shells, driftwood, and a vacation pic or two can create a summer coastal vignette everyone will love.
I filled a pretty bottle with sand collected from a beach vacation and glued a shell on top. So simple but such a pretty addition! A coaster with a beachy saying worked great here too!
For the most part, a summer coastal vignette can be created with little cost by using the treasures you’ve collected from the ocean shore!
Kitchen Lemon Vignette
Lemons are such a great element for summer decorating! They bring back memories of sunny summer days with lemonade stands as a kid. They remind me of walks through farmers markets and the beauty of lemon trees in full bloom.
I used one of my free lemon printables for this one and added a lemon coffee cup I bought at the dollar store. A light up lemon slice I found at Walmart last year does well here too. I used a few lemons from my stash and a mini lemon rolling pin. To give it a bit of a farmhouse vibe, I added my favorite kitchen rooster from the thrift store. Bringing a bit of the season to your kitchen doesn’t have to break the bank!
Summer Vintage Vibe
Although I do not have a house full of vintage treasures, I like the look and wanted to create a bit of a vintage vibe in my dining room this season. If you follow the blog, you know I made a purchase that I absolutely loved at the beginning of the season. I found a pretty statue of a vintage bathing beauty and she quickly became my favorite thing. Although she has a designated spot inside a lantern (check out my post Mandy and Me ), she looks so pretty in this vignette for the moment.
I added some old books that were my parents and my mother’s bud vase with some mint sprigs I’m rooting.
A vintage style clock and an old nautical lantern fit in perfectly.
The hydrangea in full bloom outside is such a beautiful sign of summer. I added its faux counterpart to bring a little more color to the tray. The finished product is exactly what I hoped for!
Light it Up
When putting together any vignette, I always add an element of light to the mix. Usually a battery operated candle that I can set and forget is my go to. It’s such a welcome sight to see them turn on each night at dusk. So pretty!
I hope you have found a summer vignette idea that will brighten up your space for the season! Whatever your style may be, adding a little bit of summer to a table or a countertop in your home brings a little summer sunshine inside! I’ve added some of my favorite trays and baskets to the Create the Look section to help you with your own summer vignette.
