As the days grow longer, and the temperatures rise, it’s time to swap out the heaviness of winter for a light and airy feel. Today we’ll explore a few simple ways to bring in a breezy new look for the coming season.
Although the calendar says otherwise, here in my Arizona home, spring has most certainly arrived. Still quite cool in the mornings, by early afternoon, temperatures will hit the 70’s most days. To me, that signals it’s time for bunnies, birds, and a good dose of greenery!
Spring Mantel Redo
Once the evergreen garlands, picks, and stems are packed away, adding back in a bit of the color green is always the first step in any springtime refresh. I chose the fireplace as my starting point today.
A garland of faux grape leaves makes a perfect foundation for my mantel makeover. Eucalyptus is another good choice but I prefer a brighter green to represent the fresh look of the season.
While the greenery itself brings in a good portion of that springtime feel, it’s the added elements that really provide the “pop” needed for a true refresh. This is where the bunnies and birds come into play.
With the mantel complete, the spring makeover is in full swing at my house!
Sprucing up that Focal Point with Signs of the Season
Every room has a major focal point. In our main living space, the eye is always drawn to the two recessed walls on one side of the room. The fireplace, thankfully, fit perfectly into the smaller of the two. The larger space, due to the layout of the room was the only sensible spot for the television.
While the picture (Youtube) solves the problem of an ugly black screen dominating my focal point, it’s the console table beneath that brings the room into season. Bunnies, Topiaries, and ivy covered orbs just scream spring!
Whatever you’re decorating style is, adding in some springtime elements helps to bring a light and airy feel to any room!
Welcome Spring with Pastels and Lightweight Fabrics
Last year, the color blue dominated my spring decor. While it was quite lovely, I opted to return to a favorite from the past. A rosey pink takes center stage in the main living space.
This lightweight quilted throw works perfectly for cozying up with a cup of brew in the mornings here.
You won’t have to give up the softness of the winter blankets either. Plush throws can still be light enough if the weight is right.
After adding the pillows and throws, it definitely feels like spring both inside and out.
Spring Vibes in the Kitchen
Spring is that time of year when we all want to clean up our nests for the seasons ahead. Organizing and decluttering is high on the list when the new year begins.
The kitchen is always a great place to start. It’s time to clean out the pantry and spice cabinets, reorganize drawers, and give the refrigerator a good refresh. With that in mind, it’s best to keep the decorating to a minimum here.
Since I’ll be in my cleaning mode soon, I’ve limited my decor to a few plants and a little seasonal charm. With the “less is more” theory in place, creating a fresh and airy kitchen is easy as pie.
I also love using baskets for plants in the spring. Lighter than ceramic, it brings a much more casual feel to the kitchen.
Of course the “less is more” theory went right out the window when it came to bringing spring to my much loved coffee bar.
What can I say! I’m a total failure in the minimalist department when it comes to thisl
Yes! Spring is here for sure! I know this for a fact because I just looked out my kitchen window and my porch bunny is right outside! Yay!
I hope you’ve found some fun ways to create that “light and airy” springtime vibe here today. Be sure to check out the Create the Look page for links to several of the items shown in this post.
