Apples Anyone? How to Decorate Your September Kitchen

The month of September is a transitional time. It’s a bit too early to bring out the pumpkins yet it’s time for the lemons to go! So today I’m sharing a few ideas on September kitchen decor. It’s apple picking time!

Summer is making its last gasp before letting autumn take the reins. While I’m not quite ready to spend the day at a pumpkin patch in 90 degree temperatures, I am chomping at the bit for the first signs of fall.

Since September is considered harvest time for many varieties of apples, I thought adding some apple decor to the kitchen might be just what I need… at least until it’s acceptable to the fill the house with pumpkins, gourds, and pretty fall branches!

Apple Styled Tiered Tray

Adding a tiered tray to your September kitchen is a great way to give it a little bit of a harvest feel. A small bag of faux apples and a few red accents that you have on hand are really all you need.

If you don’t have a lot of apple decorations, simply improvise. I used some red and white placemats from a long ago, country, Christmas tablescape as a base. Red napkins, dish towels, or fabric would work just as well.

It’s not yet time to bring out the leaves and fall branches, so I used greenery as filler for this tray.

Green ivy picks are a good contrast for the red faux apples which of course, are the star of the design.

A few printables work well here too. If you’re already signed up and have access to the Printable Library, you will find them there. If not, your email added to the blue form below, will have the password to your inbox in seconds.

I used a framed apple pie recipe to anchor the bottom tier.

Mini rolling pins with an apple motif call attention to the print itself. (I use the same set of rolling pins all year long. I cover them with seasonal scrapbooking paper and they look so cute!)

A sign for my fictional apple farm, Sunny Brook Orchards, is the center of the top tier. You can find this small print in the tiered tray section of the Library too.

There are a few apple related 8 x 10 prints to choose from as well. Click here to see the complete collection of Fall Printables.

So grab your tray and go for it!

Quick to put together and quick to take apart once you see your first pumpkin at the grocery store! ( If there is not a tiered tray/basket in your kitchen, I’ve included several below that are absolutely gorgeous!)

Just A Bowl of Apples

September kitchen decor doesn’t have to break the bank. Sometimes, simple is just better. Find your prettiest bowl and fill it with faux apples to keep your theme going.

Wooden bowls are my favorite for autumn displays and they look gorgeous filled with fruit. To add a little bit of contrast, I placed my bowl on the kitchen scale. So cute!

A Little of This, A Little of That

I felt I needed a few more apple accents for my September Kitchen Decor. I remembered a favorite thrifting find from many years ago and I was so excited to retrieve it from the storage room. This little gem has been waiting in the bin marked This &That for quite awhile now.

I am more of an essential oil person these days but I couldn’t resist picking up a Yankee Honeycrisp Apple Cider Candle. Definitely not eco-friendly but… just this one time!

I also added a few of the smaller apples and a cute fall dishtowel to the kitchen towel rail.

This September kitchen is perfect until fall officially arrives. When the weather cools and down and the leaves start to fall, I’ll be changing it once again. Pumpkins anyone? Stay tuned!
