Spring! Such a glorious time of the year. Everything is fresh and clean. A wonderful new beginning is taking place both inside and out. The spring decorating we have all been looking forward to is finally here. So… today I’m sharing a few ideas for how you can bring a touch of spring to your tiered trays.
And so it begins! I’m in the middle of my spring cleaning but I just can’t wait. So I decided to take a little break. A reward of sorts for all the work I’ve been doing on my Spring Cleaning Checklist. I’ve been eyeing my tiered trays all week. Styling tiered trays is such fun all the time but decorating tiered trays for Spring is just a must do!
Tiered Tray Styles
Tiered Trays come in every style you can think of. While this is an element that really saw an uptick when Farmhouse decorating became so popular, it can be used to enhance any decorating style. As much as I love them, I have limited myself to just two. Are you buying that? No? I’m not either! I am not naive enough not to realize that resolve can crumble in an instant while shopping online at Amazon or Wayfair, or strolling through Target searching for…well nothing really…but I’ve yet to leave without a bag or two!
Decorating tiered trays with signs of the season.
This tiered tray was a favorite for the winter months. I am determined to see that it maintains it’s “favorite” status through the spring season as well. First we need to take it apart and store the winter decorations until next year. I am big on clean slates!
This will be going on my coffee bar for the season so I do need a few coffee related items. I fully intend at some point to hang a shelf or a rail for mugs but I haven’t found one I love yet. For the time being my mugs will need to fit on the bar itself, on the tray, or in the cupboard below.
I have a favorite Brooke Hampton quote ( I love her! ) that although it mentions coffee, that certainly is not the point! Still, I am including it because I really just love it! I have several of her quotes in my printable library and she is definitely one of my favorites.
I absolutely love inspirational quotes! And signs! Seasonal signs, funny ones, I just love them all! My husband thinks it’s hysterical that I have a sign in my kitchen that says “KITCHEN.” He always tells me that the room with the refrigerator should really just be self explanatory! Likewise, he thinks my “PORCH” sign is redundant as well. He is sure that whoever is standing at my door is fully aware that they are on the porch. He’s hoping that our guests actually don’t need directions. Because if they do…well…then he is seriously questioning our judgement with the friends we are choosing!
But you get it right? Signs are adorable! So despite his teasing, I will be adding a few to my tray!
Adding flowers and seasonal elements to your tray
When decorating tiered trays for Spring, you will need to add few elements of the season too. Maybe a faux flower pot or plant. Something to add that great “spring” feeling. It will definitely need to be faux at my house right now since my coffee bar does not get the light a real potted plant would need this time of year. Later in the season I will move it to a sunnier window when I start my indoor herb garden. It is perfect to hold small pots of herbs and I can easily rotate them in the sunlight. For now though, this little pot will work perfectly! A nice little burst of color too!
Nothing says spring like a bunny! I found this little guy while walking through Hobby Lobby and he is my one new purchase for the season. I couldn’t resist since he is exactly what I needed to tie into my Black and white kitchen decor. It’s amazing how many Buffalo checked things you can find these days. When I redid my valances several years ago it was difficult to find anything to tie in but now it’s everywhere I look.
I love the look of my striped straws too although I haven’t found a logical use for them on my coffee bar. Still, they can stay here for spring I think. A bit silly but they work.
Now maybe a small candle will complete things. I have fallen in love with battery operated candles these days. Since my grandpuppy moved in with all his “puppy” exuberance, I worry about actual candles being knocked over on one of her many full speed treks through the house. I love the look of candlelight though so these are the next best thing. Now it’s time to bring it all together.
Yes! This will be a favorite for sure!
Decorating tiered trays – to Buffalo or not…
For those who just don’t get the whole buffalo check thing at all, let’s try it a different way. The really important thing is that in the end, YOU love it! But it is spring so let’s start with a bunny or two. Add something green and maybe a sign. A bird, some mossy eggs, and add a bow that can finish it off. The possibilities are endless.
I am not quite ready to return to my spring cleaning and I think we’re on a roll so let’s do another basket. This one is a bit more difficult since it is a two tiered fruit basket by design. With no flat areas though, we need to get creative. To be honest, it has never held fruit since I brought it home. I cannot imagine eating the amount of fruit a basket this size would hold but I do love it!
Styling with greenery
Greenery is so important in spring decor. Again, this time of year it is best to stick with faux. I bought a few of these boxwood spheres last year and couldn’t find a place for all of them. This one was rescued from the garage sale box and now I fully intend to destroy it. I will feel no guilt since I bought them for next to nothing on sale last year.
I think I will need some contrasting greenery as well. If you are a crafter at all then you have a bag somewhere full of faux flowers that you had always intended to make into a wreath. I have found mine and pulled several leaves to add to my basket. They will make a great base and along with my boxwood filler I think we’ve got it!
A basket full of greenery though does not scream “Spring” by any means. But add a few bunnies, eggs, and a nest and it’s the very essence of the season!
Ok. I have taken a much longer break than I intended. Time to return to my checklist! But I am very happy with what I accomplished during this time. Just one more basket to show you. My sister used her boxwood a little differently than I did. She did not destroy hers but found the perfect place for it instead. Isn’t this adorable? Love that bunny! Great minds….!
For those who prefer to go the DIY route, one of the bloggers I love for that is Melanie at Simple Made Pretty. I have followed several of her tutorials when I’m in need of a creativity outlet! Her instructions are always so easy to follow and the end results are just what you’d hoped they would be. She has a the perfect one for a DIY tiered tray. You can check it out by clicking here.
Decorating tiered trays for Spring is such an easy way to bring the beauty of the season to your home. It is by far one of the most amazing tools to add to your spring decorating arsenal. I hope you have found some ideas in this post that you can use in your own seasonal home. Another easy transitional tool is a lantern. There are some great spring lantern ideas in my latest post Decorating With Lanterns.
Now back to work I go! This place is not going to clean itself! Is it???
