DIY Christmas Chandelier Wreath

I love the look of greenery around hanging light fixtures at Christmas time. I just don’t like the prices! So…I decided to make one and see if it would turn out ok. Which brings me to this post DIY Chandelier Wreath.

Most of my Christmas decorations are a very traditional red and gold. I still love those colors at Christmas! I do tend to explore different looks around the house but the dining room always remains the same. Simply because I love having a constant for memories sake.

We rarely use the formal dining room. Being a casual bunch, this is not the room we head to for anything other than special occasions. Those occasions are usually large family gatherings for the holidays. A lot of wonderful memories reside in this room. I have no wish to change that.

Most of the decorations have been in this room every Christmas since we moved in. They are all treasures to me!

I saw this Kringle & Company box years ago and had to have it. My plan is that I will use it for a Christmas gift for my first grandchild. I’m big on planning ahead!

My China cabinet holds so many special decorations. My blown glass sleigh was the first Christmas decoration that my husband and I bought together. I still love it just as much today!

The red and gold deer sparkle when the lights hit them as do the ornaments. I have just resigned myself that my clothes will be full of glitter until February!

While I tend to keep this room the same from year to year I don’t, however, have a problem with adding! Which brings me back to the task at hand. Since my craft bins are all out at the moment, I found a couple of plain pine wreaths that I thought would be perfect for a DIY chandelier wreath.

Using wire cutters, I made an opening so I could put it around my light fixture easily.

I also found some red and gold ribbon and red and gold ornaments in the bins as well. Perfect! I used a gold ribbon to tie a red ball and visa versa.

Poking the ribbon through the greenery, I attached a ball to the rim of the wreath at 2 inch intervals. I tied knots on the back of the wreath to make sure the balls were secure.

To make it a little more interesting, I used different length ribbon so the ornaments would be a bit staggered.

I think that looks pretty good!

I also found these birds in my craft bin that at one time I had attached on the corners of my family room curtains. Just a little extra pop! Done!

I’m happy with my chandelier wreath but since I found two and all my crafting bins are still out….

Kitchen Cookie Cutter Wreath

My kitchen door to my deck is open most days even in the winter. It gets great exposure and my pups are always looking for a sunbeam to lay in. While we’ve had a couple brief snowfalls here, the temperatures for all of next week are in the 70’s! I’ll use the other wreath for that door.

My many cookie cutters are in a basket on my counter all through the Christmas season. Always handy should the mood to bake Christmas cookies hit me suddenly. I keep some of my mother’s old cutters there but really just for sentimental reasons. They are not the ones I go to when I’m baking. The newer ones are so much easier to work with. But I love that they were hers so I keep them. So my thought is…a cookie cutter wreath would be cute for a kitchen door.

My kitchen has a lot of gingerbread decorations this time of year. A gingerbread house, a gingerbread basket, and this adorable little tree.

In keeping with that theme, I decided to use both my mother’s old cookie cutters and a few gingerbread ornaments I picked up this year.

I still had the red ribbon out that I used to hang the ornaments on the chandelier wreath so I thought that would work here too.

I used the cookie cutter handles to fasten those and the ribbons on the gingerbread men for the same.

The final touch is a large red bow that I made last year. Since it will eventually be on the door in the kitchen, I added an extra peppermint striped bow to tie it all together.

I’m happy with the end results on both my new creations! It’s always so much fun to create things from leftover crafts. What do you have in your craft bins that would make a one of a kind wreath for your home? I hope this post inspires you to try one of your own!
