How to Add a Little Valentine Love to the Kitchen

With the kitchen always designated the “Heart of the Home,” it’s the perfect spot to add a little Valentine love for the holiday. Here’s a few ideas to help you do just that!

It’s a snowy day here in Colorado and I’m sitting in front of the fire enjoying my winter decor. It seems winter has finally arrived at My Home of All Seasons! That being said, Valentine’s Day is coming up fast and I feel the need to bring a little bit of the holiday into our home. The problem is, I am just not ready to let go of the warm and cozy feel that my winter decorations bring. It fits in so well with what’s happening outside my front door today too!

Still, I do love Valentine’s Day! I decided to compromise a bit and add some holiday decorations to the kitchen, leaving the rest of the house untouched. After all, love is homemade, which makes the kitchen the perfect spot. I love decorating my tiered trays so I think that’s a great place to start.

Home is Where the Heart is Tiered Tray Design

The old saying, love makes a house a home, is so true. A house is a physical place but home is a feeling. It’s the warmth inside that you feel when you look at your husband or wife, your joy when holding your children, and the contentment that engulfs you when you’re all gathered together in one place.

Since the symbol for the word home is always a house, I used several in this year’s tiered tray design.

I love adding a little bit of greenery as well. With its heart shaped leaves, this philodendron is the perfect touch.

A few buffalo checked hearts to finish things off and this tray definitely speaks to my chosen theme.

Valentine’s Day Coffee Bar Refresh

If you’ve followed the blog for awhile, you’ve seen my coffee bar change often with the seasons. Seasons being the operative word here. The only actual holiday that I do is Christmas. But I had so much fun with the Valentine tray that I thought I’d try a refresh to the bar as well.

So… this morning when I made my first cup of coffee, this is what I saw.

But then my second cup…

You can do something similar whether your coffee station is a corner of your counter or a designated cupboard like mine. The Create the Look links throughout this post has several items to make yours unique. You can add a little Valentine love to the kitchen just about anywhere!

Better yet, bring out your crafty side! I made the Be Mine Faux Valentine Cookie with the coffee bar in mind. You can check out how incredibly easy it is by clicking here.

I replaced the Let it Snow sign with a garland made with hearts and a simple piece of twine.

The pine cones that were in the fillable lamp have been replaced by candy hearts. I’ve also added Valentine sprinkles and mini marshmallows for the occasional cup of hot chocolate through the winter.

I think the coffee bar is good to go now until February 15th!

Valentine Table For Two

Dressing up a kitchen table for a special breakfast or dinner is always a fun way to go. Just adding a few hearts here and there will bring a little Valentine love to the table.

Since the overall theme in my Valentine kitchen is all about home, I had fully intended to carry it over to my Valentine’s Day breakfast table. Instead, I decided to be a bit silly and go a different route this time.

I gave my husband these adorable little dogs on a Valentine’s Day long, long, ago. They move back and forth and sing an absolutely awful version of Sonny & Cher’s I’ve Got You Babe. It was so incredibly corny that it made us laugh for hours that day. He has been waking up to this duo singing an inch above his face every Valentine’s Day since. This year will be no exception. However, once he recovers from their rude awakening this time, I plan to move them right here, to the middle of the table. It will be such fun watching him struggle through a repeat performance!

Kitchen Printables

Adding pretty framed printables is another easy way to bring some Valentine Love to your kitchen. You’ll see several that I used myself in the pictures above. My latest post, Free Valentine’s Day Printables, will show you the many others available in the Printable Library this year.

  1. Good morning, Denise. I love how you have added Valentine’s decor to your kitchen . From your tiered tray with the cute little houses, to the fabulous coffee bar, and then your darling table. Just the right amount of red and pink for the special holiday. Happy Valentine’s Day ♥️

    1. Thank you Pam! I struggle with Valentine’s Day every year. After putting away Christmas and getting winter in place, I never feel like changing things this soon! In the end, I’m always happy I did though. Thanks again and have a great weekend!

  2. I love your Valentine kitchen decor, especially the coffee bar and that adorable table for two with the cute stuffed dogs! I bet the “I got you Babe” rendition is painful to hear 😂 Have a wonderful Valentine’s Day Denise!

    1. Thank you Jenna! Oh yes, they are terrible singers! That makes it all the more fun when I wake him with them each year though. Thanks for coming by and have a wonderful weekend ahead.

  3. Very cute ideas, Denise. It’s so funny, now that I have these bare walls and counters in this new house…..I am so hesitant to do much decorating. I actually hung the three framed cross-stitchings I had on my counter over the sink. Suddenly I felt like the kitchen was cluttered, lol! I really am turning into my husband, I think. I do have my forced tulips on the counter though, and plan to enjoy those through Valentine’s Day (I bought another vase of them today at the grocery!). I will plant them in spring for [hopefully] blooms next year.

    1. Thanks Rita! I totally understand where you’re at. I have a feeling that my next house will be quite a bit different than this one in that regard. I’m working toward that end now. As I’m putting away each season, I’m amazed at what I’ve gotten rid of with no regrets. I failed miserably with Christmas though lol! Next year! Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend. By the way, I am still laughing at you telling your husband he will need to reschedule his birthday since January isn’t your month! So funny and I get that too!

  4. Wow, so cute! Love the Valentine Houses, they look perfect in your tray. I’m curious where you bought them? I’m sure friends and family will loving visiting your Valentine coffee bar.

    1. Thanks Judy! The larger houses came from Hobby Lobby last year and the smaller were at Walmart this year. They are the perfect size for a tiered tray. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
