How to Make a Patriotic Wreath in 10 Minutes

Decorating for the Fourth of July can be a little daunting. The kids are out of school for the summer and time is a precious commodity. With that in mind, today I’m sharing how to make a patriotic wreath in 10 minutes. Who knew?

The Fourth of July crept up on me this year. I mean, didn’t we just celebrate Easter yesterday??? Feeling a little panicked, I began searching my favorite stores for the perfect patriotic wreath. Finding nothing I liked, I searched the internet as well. One caught my eye but it wouldn’t ship for three weeks. I decided to use it as a guide instead and create one of my own.

With my prime membership, I ordered everything I needed from Amazon. It was delivered this morning and as it turned out, it was by far the easiest wreath I’ve ever made. Really! Who knew you could make a pretty wreath in just 10 minutes? Well… you can and here’s how to do it!

Fourth of July Wreath

Supplies

  • 1 yard each of red, white, and blue star jersey material
  • 1 grapevine wreath (18 inch)
  • scissors
  • red, white, and blue flowers
  • large wreath bow
  • miniature flag
  • floral wire

Cut each fabric lengthwise into a 12 inch wide strip. Lay out the red fabric and put your wreath on top. Fold it over the wreath and pull it to the side. Do the same with the white and the blue. Fold the fabric under on each side about an inch. This gives you a hem when the fabric is stretched tight without actually sewing it.

Gather the fabric together, pull it taunt, and secure it with a rubber band to the side. I used a thin blue ribbon to cover the rubber band and to tie on the wreath bow.

From this point, take it and run with it! You can add whatever embellishments you’d like. I used some red, white, and blue flowers that I had on hand and a small American flag. With a grapevine wreath there is no need for a glue gun. Simply poking them in between the vines keeps them secure enough. This will also allow you to easily change your patriotic wreath for a new season.

The end result is exactly what I hoped for!

I have added touches of patriotic decor all over the house in anticipation of a holiday get- together. For more ideas, check out my latest post Easy Patriotic Decor Ideas for the Fourth of July.
