Make Your Own Christmas Cocoa Bar

Hot Chocolate is a great winter staple and setting up a Christmas Cocoa Bar is such a fun way to celebrate the season.

Winter weather has not yet made its arrival here in Colorado but I have no doubt it will show up soon! With that being inevitable, I thought we should be prepared! A cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter day warms the soul.

If you follow the blog, you will know that my hubby and I disagree on my use of signs in our decor (See: Signs of the Season, Christmas Edition). Last year, I added a little “North Pole” sign to the lamppost out front. It was by far the smallest one I had yet it seemed to be the point of greatest contention. This year I felt I needed to take that into consideration. So of course, I added a much larger one to the mix! In fact, I made it this year’s theme.

Signs of the Season on the Cocoa Bar

These cute little printable signs are available for subscribers in the Library.

Toppings Galore

I used last year’s labels and I’ve added those back in the Library as well. They include a few blank labels just in case you have other favorite toppings of your own!

Pretty Hot Cocoa Cups

A cup of hot cocoa if done correctly is nothing short of a work of art in my book. No two cups are ever the same. I’ve made sure to have all the toppings ready on my tiered tray and I encourage everyone to be creative. To add to the overall cuteness here, I put together a few cups of faux hot chocolate for inspiration. So incredibly easy! You will find the short tutorial here.

Don’t Forget the Coffee!

While I love a cup of cocoa in front of the fire in the evenings, I am a 2-cup of coffee person to start my day. I am not one to smother it with vanilla or caramel but this time of year I do make an exception! Flavored coffees are always on hand on my Christmas cocoa bar.

Coffee Bar Decorations

Of course, despite what some may think, we needed more signs!

One of my favorite decorations on the cocoa bar is a lamp I’ve had for years. Just a week ago it was filled with candy corn. Today, in keeping with the season, gum drops are the choice.

Last year I filled my cocoa crock with a blend that I made and a scoop. This year, with Hot Chocolate Bombs being everywhere, I used the crock to hold a little Christmas tree on the top of the tiered tray.

I added timer lights to make sure it looks pretty at night as well!

Making your own Christmas Cocoa Bar is easy. Hot Chocolate, toppings, and some pretty Christmas dishes and decorations are all you really need. I’ve added my cocoa bar to the Create the Look section of the blog as well. You can find links to several things I’ve used and several more that would work just as well.

In my own little corner…

I am thrilled to have a dedicated coffee bar but it really isn’t necessary. Setting up a tiered tray next to your coffee maker and hanging a cute sign there works perfectly! My sister did her own version on the counter and it is adorable!

  3. Just found your site, when scrolling for Gingerbread ideas. I created my Coffee/Cocoa bar this year and had a ball, of course, you probably figured my kitchen theme is Gingies! Love the lamp (need to make that for next year) and so many of your ideas. Really like the candy cane pitcher, do you recall who makes it or where you got it? Thanks for all the printable you have created.

    1. Welcome Bonnie! I am betting it came from Home Goods but I’m not at home to check. It is packed away already but I think I can find it and see if there is anything on the bottom of it. I’ll message you this evening. In the meantime, be sure to check the Create the Look section of the blog. I know the lamp is there but not sure about the other. Thanks so much and have a great day!
