Even though I’m spending most of my time outdoors these days, I am still giving my diffuser quite the workout. There are so many great summer essential oil blends that will remind me of the season every time I walk into a room. Today I want to share them with you!
A friend taught me long ago how important a scent can be to seasonal decor. Walking into her home several autumns past, I was hit with with the very distinct scent of fallen leaves. Before I could even take in all of her beautiful fall decorations, I was already in the season. That smell took me back to walks in the woods around my Ohio childhood home, jumping into leaf piles, and finding the prettiest to use for wax paper pictures.
The Scents of Summer
When I think of summer, so many scents spring to mind. Lemons, Strawberries, and peaches. Salt air, coconut, and surf. Roses, Freesia, Honeysuckle and so many more. Fresh kitchen herbs! Most of these scents can be recreated in your home to some degree with summer essential oil blends.
It’s amazing how quickly these scents can transport you to another time and place. Memories become much more vivid and a good summer essential oil blend can lift your mood in an instant.
I leave my oldest diffuser outside and I use it often. The lower patio is covered and unless it is extremely windy, it does a great job outdoors. I start it every morning since it is my favorite place to sit with my coffee and plan my day. It’s certainly not as strong as indoors but just catching a whiff of fresh cut grass when I walk out the door is enough.
I especially love diffusing outside when I have guests over. It just automatically sets the mood and is such a great “welcome! ” At this point, during a normal Colorado Summer, it’s a daily struggle to keep my potted plants alive in the heat . The fragrant spring flowers have died off, so the only source of those great summertime scents rests solely on my diffuser. I’ve put together the recipes for all of my favorites to share with you.
Summer Blends
Depending on your diffuser, you may need to double the recipes. Keep in mind that essential oils are very potent. A little goes a long way. I do tend to double up in my largest diffuser and as long as you stick to the ratios, the scents are the same.
There you have it! Now you just have to decide if you are going to the beach today or on a camping trip. Happy travels!
If you would like to print the blends to keep with your diffuser, I’ve loaded it into the library. Just enter your password and it will print in an 8 x 10 format.

I bought essential oils back in the fall and I have used them… once! I am trying to get better at remembering to use them and these scents sound so perfect. Thank you! Pinned.
Thanks so much Joanne! It took me awhile to go for the diffuser instead of my candles but I love it now. I actually use mine even more on the patio than inside. Fresh Cut Grass is such a great summer scent!
