Four Easy Ideas for a Pretty Thanksgiving Centerpiece

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and we all want to set a beautiful table for such an important gathering. Creating a pretty centerpiece is always the first step.

Since last Thanksgiving was not at all what any of us expected, I am looking forward to the holiday more than ever this year.

Right now, I am in the planning stage. I’ve been trying different centerpieces which will then determine the table I’ll set. I’ve narrowed it down to four easy choices that I’m sharing with you in this post. Maybe you’ll find an idea that resonates with you today and perhaps you can help me with the elimination process as well!

Centerpiece 1 – Harvest Blessings for Everyone

Thanksgiving Centerpiece with wheat bundle

I absolutely love the look of a wheat bundle on a Thanksgiving table. It’s so representative of this beautiful holiday! I thought I’d put one together to use in my first setting. The process is quite easy and I’ve shared the how to below.

A large cutting and serving board placed in the center of the table will be my base on this design. Placing the wheat bundle on one end, I added a set of tapered candles to the other for balance.

I used a mix of faux and real pumpkins and gourds and a few small picks as filler. A pine cone or two adds additional texture. A sign to wish Harvest Blessings for everyone that will be seated at this table is the final touch.

If I go with this option, then I think a simple gold plate will be just perfect here!

Step 7 – Add a decorative bow and display your wheat bundle anywhere!

# 2 – Gather, Dough Bowl Design

Dough Bowl Thanksgiving Centerpiece

This centerpiece is a great one if you’re planning for a full table. Using a dough bowl design will catch the attention of arriving guests but can easily be moved for additional space during dinner.

I thought a woodsy look might be a nice way to make use of this bowl.

With a green faux vine for the foundation, I added some large orange leaves and velvet pumpkin picks for a burst of color.

The center of the bowl holds a white ceramic pumpkin and another made of wood chips. Larger velvet pumpkins in alternating shades of orange fill in the remaining space.

Two pretty woodland birds along with a bark wrapped “Gather” sign completes the look.

Birch candles enhance the woodsy vibe and a place setting of plum for contrast will work as well.

Centerpiece 3 – Welcome Friends

Since we will be hosting a Friendsgiving get together in addition to a traditional family dinner, I thought I would try a more laid back setting as well.

I decided a tablecloth would not be necessary on this one and used a black and white runner instead. My intent was to use a few buffalo checked pumpkins at varying heights. I added bright orange leaves to bring a bit of color to the table.

Cotton, a few orange pumpkins of different textures, along with a few smaller checked ones will fill in the design. Of course I needed a sign! I think “Welcome Friends” is an appropriate choice.

Wanting to keep the colors to a minimum here, I used some black pillar holders and orange candles for lighting.

Orange plates and checked napkins will keep the table uniform.

#4 – Family, Like Branches On A Tree

Thanksgiving Centerpiece using pears

This centerpiece is the easiest of all but is perhaps the most thought provoking of the four.

The serving board used above will work here as well. I started with a bunch of gold hydrangea buds I had on hand and spread them out on the board to build from.

Next, I added my favorite sign that is always out somewhere in the house. It’s a reminder for our kids that no matter where they go, we will always be here. I verbalize that often but I think it’s perfect for a Thanksgiving table.

I added a bowl full of pears which have long been a symbol of inner peace. That is exactly the feeling that takes over when I look at those seated at my table. Although some may be missing, we are a family and will always be connected.

I added pumpkins which represent the bounty of love we harvest each day and a candle to symbolize the light we all bring to one another’s lives.

As a final touch, I’ve added a tall candle to represent the light of the world!

If I choose this one I think the same gold setting on the first option would be perfect!

So… Which centerpiece should I choose? Which one would you choose?? They were all such fun to put together and so easy! I am leaning towards the last one but I’d love your opinion!

Although I’m a firm believer that you should enjoy each season to the fullest, I can’t help but be a little excited that Christmas is coming! So to keep myself from switching out the decorations way too early, I’ve been working on some new Christmas printables to add to the Library. I’m hoping to have them ready to print very soon! I’ve also started a few Christmas crafts that I’ll share on the blog soon as well.

  1. Geez! I’m going back and looking at all of them. I just love them all! But, I’d have to say that #2 is right up there with #4. Gah! How to actually pick?!?!

  2. I agree with Linda in finding a way to use all of them….All are so pretty!! I am on a mission to have my entire house decorated for Christmas before Thanksgiving…I usually fall short but this year, I am determined because I want to sit back and relax and enjoy the entire Holiday Season!! I do host Thanksgiving here for our family of 5 but they are used to the house being already decorated for Christmas…I have to start early as it took me 33 days last year….
    Have a great weekend!!
    Hugs,
    Deb
