Winter Front Porch

With Christmas behind us but months of winter to go, my front porch is in a sort of limbo.  The pretty Christmas decorations must come down.  It is way too early for spring flowers so what can we do with a winter front porch?

Winter Porch Sign

I love my believe sign and since the back side is blank, I decided to make it reversible.  I had some cream colored paint which I thought would be perfect.  The black letters were a steal I found at a clearance sale a few years ago. I bought them for a song to put in my craft bin for a someday project. Today just happens to be someday!

I’ve added some buffalo check mesh to the top and bottom since I know I will be making black and white bows for everything out front. I am using gorilla glue of all things to attach the letters to the sign. They need to hold up in the weather after all! Some little mittens, a hat and a few snowflakes will finish this project off. I’m happy with the end result and the sign can stay for another season!

Milk Can Refresh

The pretty display of greenery in the milk can that I used for Christmas can stay as well. Removing the holly and anything else too christmassy of course.  I will add a few snowy picks to replace them and switch out the bow. Some furry skates will be the finishing touch.

Winter Lamppost

The lamp which had both red and white lights can also stay.  Removing the bow and red lights, I will leave the greenery and white lights and add a Buffalo checked bow.

Welcome Sign

I had to put my welcome dachshund on skis away since he was a bit too christmassy.  So I needed a welcome out front.  I have a plain dachshund chalkboard that I could use if I could find it!   I like to think of myself as pretty organized but apparently I’m giving myself too much credit!    So I decided to make a winter sign of my own.  I’ll share it on the blog this week in case you need one too!

Winter Lantern

I love a lantern on the porch as well. This one was a quick and easy change to the new season. With a little faux snow, a tree, a black and white pick, and of course, a candle, this will make a great addition to the porch. The snowman ornament can stay with a change of bows.

Front Door Winter Wreath

I made this wreath for the winter season a few years ago and I still love it today! Such a quick and easy project that I tried from a tutorial I found scrolling through Pinterest on The Navage Patch blog. You can find it on their post DIY Winter Loop Yarn Wreath. I’ve been following this blog ever since. Such a fun one!

To finish things off, I’ve added a bucket of snowballs and a buffalo checked pillow to the old rocker. My winter front porch is done! What do you think?

There! Now if it would just snow a little bit!

  1. Denise,
Love the change over from Christmas to Winter decor on your front porch!! Very pretty! Are the skates from big Lot’s? I think I have the same ones. Mine are hanging on my Powder Room door…
I have been doing this change over for a long time now and it really brightens up the Winter months….

    1. Yes! They are from Big Lots. I sure wish you lived here! We would have so much fun hitting the stores together. You are right though… it does help brighten up the winter months. Ours has been pretty mild but it isn’t the snow that bothers me. It’s that everything is so brown. We would be spending a lot of time this month out in California during normal times. That always gave us a break and let us see some green grass for awhile! But…I need to change my attitude this year and just roll with things I guess. Take care and stay safe.

  2. Your porch looks stunning !! The lantern, the milk can, the wreath and that lovely reversible welcome sign are perfectly cordinated.
Thank you for sharing your post with us at Meraki Link Party.
    Have a wonderful week
