6 Easy Fall Inspired Baskets

We’ve all got them.  That basket we saw on our way to the checkout counter.  It was such a good price and even though your arms are full (since you only ran in for that one thing,) you still manage to hook it with your pinky and bring it along.  Now what?  Well… to justify the purchase, you simply have to use it!  So I put together these 6 easy fall inspired baskets to quickly make it the necessity you thought it was when you left the store.

Adding Fall to a Large Basket

If you’re like me, you needed another basket like a hole in the head.  But your willpower is not what it once was. Of course it came in several sizes but bigger is better right?!! After all, It was on sale! Still, at this point you’re wondering if that matters since the cost to fill it may outweigh the savings anyways. I’m here to tell you that adding fall to a large basket doesn’t have to break the bank!

If you actually bought it with a specific purpose in mind, that’s wonderful– a foreign concept to me but wonderful nonetheless! However, if it was simply meant as a decorative accent, don’t panic. It doesn’t need to be filled to the brim. Here’s a couple of ideas that will make that “little” basket a fall favorite.

A pretty fall throw will do the trick. Putting the bulk of your blanket inside, it will be there when you need it for warmth on a crisp fall evening. With half your basket filled now, just add a fall element or two and your done!

You can also use a basket this size to display a pretty pillow or two.

Having a pillow near the sofa on movie nights makes it a “useful” purchase as well!

Large baskets are always a great addition to an entry table/sofa table too. Again, that decorative throw in fall colors will lift up the smaller elements in your display.

Adding a seasonal sign always draws the eye to your design.

Tabletop Baskets Full of Fall Treasures

Tabletop baskets can bring so much of the season into your home. Taking up little space, they give you the ability to bring a bit of fall to a concentrated area.

Styling this pretty sea grass or any medium size basket is a breeze and can be done so easily with existing elements. Remember… you do not need to fill it with additional purchases.

Since this basket is quite deep, stuffing paper in the bottom is the way to go.  To add some color, a pretty pick or a branch of fall leaves will help to bring some depth as well.

Adding Personal Style to Your Basket

The most important part of designing a tabletop basket, designing anything really, is to make sure it is a reflection of you. Fall is all about pumpkins and an amazing display of reds, yellows, and every shade of orange.

Growing up in Ohio, those colors were always so vivid from the oaks and the maples of the valley near my home. The pumpkins we picked and carved were always orange. These are the colors that speak fall to me.

But maybe your idea of fall is entirely different. Maybe it’s the subtle change of the grasses in the fields that draws you in. From the green of mid-summer to brown with just the slightest hint of amber as fall arrives. White pumpkins grace your mantel and leaves in varying brown tones are your choice. Those are the elements to use in your basket!

Coastal Inspired Fall Basket

Although I still love the traditional colors, the lower level of my home is decorated with all things coastal. It is full of the treasures we’ve collected over the years on our boating adventures and coastal holidays. I prefer to bring in the season here with the soothing colors of the ocean I love.

To make it my own and ensure that it will fit in with the coastal motif, I added a white starfish to the basket.

Displayed with a few of my favorite seaside finds, I know this basket will be loved for years to come.
