Ready for the fall season???? I have mixed feelings this time of year. I love the summer months. It’s just so great to be outside all day. In the summer, the house gets so much bigger with all the outdoor space. I love having coffee on my patio in the morning and dinner out on the deck most nights. Having a glass of wine on the front porch swing while watching the sun set is so relaxing too! But all good things must come to an end they say. With that in mind, I have created a Autumn Cleanup Checklist to help transition to the fall season.
It’s not as if autumn in Colorado brings an end to all of that. Most years we have beautiful weather through September and into October. There have been, however, early snowfalls in September. With the way this year is going, I’m thinking it could snow any day!
So…I have my fall to do list ready to go and will be checking things off everyday. Truthfully, there is no hurry yet and most things will have to wait awhile. But I thought I would share it with you. There is so much uncertainty surrounding school this year , fall cleanup is most likely the last thing on your mind. It’s my hope this will help you in one way or another.
Autumn Cleanup Checklist Inside
Getting ready for autumn indoors involves a scaled down version of spring cleaning. While I don’t feel the need to go crazy for this part, I do like to get the dust out! After months of open windows, the blinds need another good cleaning, the fans need to be dusted, and the dust bunnies have found their way back under my kitchen appliances.
The constant in our house when the weather grows colder is the fireplace. Although I loved the big wood burning fireplace in my old house, I also love the convenience of flipping the switch on my gas one. Still, it does need a good cleaning and now is the perfect time.
Knowing our outside living is coming to an end, this is also the time of year when I like to have the carpets cleaned and windows given a good once over as well.
During the summer months, I avoid the kitchen with a passion. But when fall is in the air, the kitchen becomes my happy place. I love fall baking! Pies, cupcakes, cookies and all things pumpkin. I don’t even mind cooking in general this time of year. Making comfort food on a chilly day is so much fun! Whoever said turkey is just for Thanksgiving??? Fall is the time of year when I replenish the spices, sauces, and staples that I seem to only use in this one season!
Autumn Cleanup Checklist Outdoors
I’m the one who does a lot of the fall yard cleanup because I love that too. Working outside when it’s not in the nineties is great really. We do tend to hire out the bigger chores. Staying away from ladders these days just seems prudent for us so we do not clean our own gutters. We also hire a service to aerate twice a year. But everything else is mine.
Putting away my fairy garden and outdoor decorations is a bit time consuming but I like to be organized in the spring. The shed becomes a catch all for everything in the summer months. Organizing is a must because it will hold a lot more during the fall. While I do simply cover a lot of the larger outdoor furniture pieces, the shed will hold chairs, rugs, and all sorts of summer decor.
Likewise, the garage needs reorganization as well. Making sure we have easy access to the snowblower will require a lot of moving things around. Having shovels and ice melt within reach is a must. I’m hoping we won’t need these things too soon but I want to be prepared.
I’ve linked some of my favorite tools for all of this below. For me, having everything on hand before our first snowfall is so important. I hope this checklist and the products below will help you get ready for the seasons to come.

You’re very welcome! I’m so glad you like them. I get sidetracked so easily that I have to have checklists to get anything done it seems!
What does it say about me that I love the check lists the most?
It says you are in good company Lisa! A lot of downloads on that one! It seems the older I get, the more I rely on them to get through the day!
What a great check list and thanks for the time saving tips too. Pinned.
Thanks so much Joanne! I’d be lost without a list! Thanks for the pin!
