I love this time of year! This is probably my favorite season for decorating. There are just so many options! Traditional fall decor, the very popular neutrals, Halloween extraordinaire, or maybe just add a little spooky to your home!
For me, fall brings the Thanksgiving holiday which means one thing…family. So with that in mind, my focus is on warm and welcoming in my decor.
If you are a young family with little ones, the season tends to be all about Halloween.
Best of both worlds
I am here to tell you though…it doesn’t have to be one way or the other! You can add a little spooky to your favorite fall decor and have the best of both worlds. One of the easiest ways to do this is with a tiered tray.
Halloween fabric, a witch hat, potions, and a faux book of spells will pack a lot of punch into a compact display.
It’s also easy to mix in a Halloween prop here and there. A witch, a jack-o-lantern, or a sign to build anticipation for the holiday. At my house, even the bears joined in the fun.
Sometimes you can simply add a candle to create a spooky look.
Maybe you’ll choose one table or a buffet to make Halloween Central in your home.

Maybe just create a spooky corner somewhere…
I have no idea what Halloween itself will look like in this crazy year. Trick or Treating? Halloween parties? School costume parties? I think everything is up in air for most of the country. Parents everywhere are working on ways to spare their little ones another disappointment. I have faith that the Moms and Dads out there will find a way to safely celebrate the holiday.
I hope if I’ve accomplished nothing else, I’ve at least given you some inspiration on how to add a little spooky to your home.
