Fall is right around the corner! Therefore, I thought I would put together my favorite Autumn Essential Oil Blends and share them with you.
Sensing the Season
Part of the joy of a seasonal home is making sure that every one of the senses are brought into the experience. The changing leaves outside, or the pumpkins, gourds, and mums brought inside for your autumn decor satisfy the sense of sight.
Cozy throws and soft wool blankets take care of touch and pumpkin spice anything brings home the taste of the season.
Likewise, the leaves rustling in the yard or the geese flying overhead bring us the sounds of fall. But above all perhaps, it is the scents of autumn that usher the season into your home.
Wood burning in the fireplace takes me back to long past Septembers. Subsequently, toasted marshmallows and apple cider remind me of many fun October outings with the kids. Similarly, The scent of anything pumpkin makes me excited for November and the family holidays ahead.
As the weather cools off, I love to add the warmth of a candle’s glow to my home. However, I tend to use a lot of battery operated candles in the places I cannot easily reach and real scented candles where I can. But with rambunctious dogs always running through the house, I find myself lighting real candles less and less these days. Because of this, my essential oil diffusers get quite the workout.
Autumn Aromas
There are so many amazing autumn essential oil blends which makes it hard to choose my favorites. Some will remind you of the leaf piles you jumped in as a kid. Others smell like your first sip of a pumpkin spice latte. Certainly, It’s nice to be able to have the scent without the worry of a candle burning unattended every time I leave the room. Therefore, my diffusers are the one constant through the seasons.
Diffusers come in every size and shape. I’ve linked some of my favorites below. Many are blue tooth enabled or come with a remote or timer. The thing to remember is that most essential oils are very potent. Consequently, a little bit goes a long way. A few drops of this and a couple of that and you’re set for the day. Because of this, the size of the diffuser is not always the most important factor.
My larger diffusers double as a humidifier and run in the bedrooms to help with the dryness of the Colorado air. Similarly, The smaller ones are strictly intended to bring a beautiful scent to the room they are in without taking up too much space.
Choosing Essential Oils
Several diffusers will come with a starter set of oils. However, it’s important to note that not all oils are created equal. Therefore, you need to ask yourself for what purpose are you purchasing them.
Essential oils have been used for years as natural remedies for everything from anxiety and insomnia to headaches and colds. Not all essential oils that you purchase are pure. In addition, many may have been grown or harvested with chemicals and pesticides. If it is the health benefits you are looking for, some research on your part would be prudent. A great article to start with, Buying Better Essential Oils, is a quick read to learn the basics of choosing a good brand.
I have already started diffusing my autumn essential oil blends in my home. Technically I suppose, it is still summer but I just couldn’t wait! I’ve added several fall printables to the library as well since I couldn’t wait to print them myself! You can see what I’ve been up to in my latest post, Fall and Halloween Printables.
