Decorating Spring Lanterns

This year I decided to start my decorating by putting together some spring lanterns.  Always a favorite in any season,  the possibilities are endless for spring! Flowers, bunnies, birds and nests will be perfect to welcome in this pretty season.

A Bird in the Hand…

Starting with the smallest one,  I will replace the snow and fir trees with moss and a bird’s nest. A little wooden bird is the perfect occupant for this little lantern. I’ll use the same candle from the winter decor.  A battery operated candle will make the lantern so pretty when set to come on each night at dusk. The best part is that once the timer is set, I can forget all about it! Swapping out the Buffalo checked bow with a pretty pink striped one and it’s finished and ready for another season!

Here Comes the Bunny

This one was a favorite for the winter season.  There is a little bit more room here so I will add one of my larger bunnies and some pretty pink flowers.  It’s my hope that with a little bit of greenery stuck in with the bow and a pretty little sign this will become of a favorite of the new season as well.  I mean who can resist that cute little face??? A skinny candle will complete this one.

Spring Laughs in Flowers

I loved this lantern during the winter months. I’m in love with anything where there is a teddy bear involved! I am hoping to make it just as pretty for the spring months ahead and as sad as I am to put this little bear away, I think a little lamb might be more appropriate.

I decided to add a bit of greenery to the bottom to bring a pop of color to the inside. A pretty pink candle and a fabric heart will fit inside as well. But given the shape of the top of the lantern, this is where I’ve concentrated most of my effort. It is the perfect lid to add flowers to so I couldn’t resist! The top of this one is more of a flat shape and it’s very easy to attach a swag so of course I did!

Spring Has Sprung

My tallest lantern held a pretty winter scene with lights, trees, and a gorgeous little deer.  I would like to keep the lights so I will add them to a potted flower arrangement much like I’ve done in years past.  It never really seems like spring until the flowers start poking their way through the snow. I love this little arrangement but I simply cannot wait until I can fill the house with their real counterparts!

Not Today!

There is one more lantern to redo for the new season. It is my largest one and is currently gracing the front porch. I’m excited to design it for the spring season but not today! Definitely NOT today!

I am always the first one in the neighborhood to decorate for every new season. I get a lot of grief for that. I’m blamed for colder temps when my autumn decor goes up. I am told that “we were having nice weather until you put those pumpkins outside!” I’m also blamed for the first snowfall with a bit more gusto. So… one would think I would get credit when spring comes along with it’s milder weather. Nope! The minute I put it out there I know we will have a hail storm and I’ll never hear the end of it! But… my porch will be decorated on the first day of spring no matter what they say! I can take it!!!!

Lanterns are always such great decorating tools no matter the season. I’ve included links to some of my Amazon favorites below. I’ve had mine for several years now and they are no longer available but I know a good one when I see it!

    1. Thank you so much Lora! I really appreciate that! I’m glad you stopped by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thanks so much Rita! I think I might have jinxed us though. I just saw on the news that there is a big storm on its way that is supposed to stall over Colorado. They are saying we may get up to two feet! It’s going to be 70 here today and then it hits late Wednesday. I know I’m supposed to be a good Coloradian and smile and say “It will be great for skiing” but I don’t ski and I’m really over the cold! I’m hoping they are wrong! Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.
