We are halfway through the fall season and I’m happy to say my decorating efforts are finally completed. From this point on, there is nothing to do but enjoy that beautiful autumn feeling we’ve all worked so hard to create. It’s there throughout the house but those fabulous fall vibes in the kitchen are hard to match!
Kitchens, with their “heart of the home” reputation, seem to always be the gathering place for family and friends. For that reason alone, I spend a lot of time decorating there each season. But the truth is, this is the time of year that the kitchen once again becomes my domain.
I am not the cook at our house. I was smart enough to marry a man who loves to cook and is amazing at it. For that, I am eternally grateful. I do, however, love to bake and this is my favorite time to do it. Pumpkin spice Cupcakes, maple cookies, apple cinnamon cake, YUM! Baking in a warm and cozy kitchen full of fabulous fall vibes is just the ultimate!
So today I’d like to invite you on a tour to see where I’ll be spending my days very soon!
WARNING: If you are a minimalist, turn back now. Trust me… you’ll have nightmares for weeks. But before you go, I want you to know that I truly do admire you! You can walk through the gauntlet that is the check out line at Home Goods without adding a thing to your cart! In addition, you barely have to move anything to clean and you have all the space you could possibly want on your countertops!
This is not that kitchen!
Autumn Leaves and Coffee Please
If you’ve been a subscriber of the blog for awhile, you have seen many changes take place at the coffee bar. It’s such fun to give it a seasonal refresh and fall is always a favorite. There are several new additions but my favorite are the wooden cups with fall inspirations. They were a birthday gift from my daughter this year and they are just adorable.
The tiered tray here was such fun to put together!
I kept the Old Crow Coffee Company theme but added a smaller sign for the new cafe they opened this year! This print is tiered tray size 5.25 x 5.25 and is available to all subscribers in the Printable Library.
The coffee bar is my first stop of the day and it always makes me smile!
Keeping it Simple
Although my Kitchen Aide mixer gets a workout on baking days, I do not have the cabinet space to store it when it’s not in use. Since it has to be on the counter anyways, it might as well be pretty! For the cost of a bag of dried corn, you have a new fall decoration!
Another favorite that changes with the seasons is the kitchen scale.
Dish towels can also become a decoration. If they are seasonal or the colors of fall, bring them out of the drawer and put them in a basket. Now they are not only handy but pretty too!
It’s amazing how a simple towel can brighten things up.
Fall Leaves, Berries, Picks, Pumpkins and Gourds
Although I have embraced a neutral look in my formal living room this year, I love the more vibrant colors of fall in my kitchen.
Since this house is a two story with a walk out, my kitchen windows act as picture frames for the gorgeous trees outside. However, in a few short weeks, those trees will be bare. To compensate, I will frame the windows themselves with my fall displays.
Faux pumpkins and gourds added to tiered fruit bowl is always a favorite here.
For balance, I added a pip berry wreath on a stand to the opposite side.
Another tiered tray, some fall leaves, and a wooden pumpkin bring the island into the season.
Adding fall leaves and some seasonal table settings creates a cozy spot for a dinner of fall comfort food!
The Whole Picture
From fall through the Christmas season I will utilize the space above my kitchen cabinets to display some of my seasonal favorites. It’s the perfect place to display a few decorative wooden bowls and trays. ( Be sure to check out my latest post, How to create a rich, fall, feel with wood for more ideas.)
Candles set to come on at dusk each night add a little ambiance to the room.
It’s a great spot to add a few signs and printables as well.
Oh Christmas Tree… not!
I am well aware that December is still a month away, however, I’ve added a small Christmas tree to my kitchen already. Although it can easily become a part of the holiday season, for the moment, I consider it my Harvest Tree.
I’ve used several fall leaf and berry picks and a few fall ornaments to make it an autumn favorite. Placed inside a pretty colander, it is as cute as can be!
The hustle and bustle of Christmastime will be here before we know it but I am determined to enjoy every minute of this beautiful season. Besides, I am already ahead of things. This little tree simply needs a change of ornaments and it can stay in place until January. BOOM! Just one more way to create some fabulous fall vibes in your kitchen too!
