Fall Front Porch

Bringing the new season to your home starts outside. Your fall front porch is the first greeting to anyone coming for a visit. It’s important to make it a welcoming one while reflecting the beauty of the season at the same time.

I love my home but this time of a year I long for the covered, wrap around porch of my dreams. I would have such fun with that! But…it was not to be. So I try to make the most of what I have. Pumpkins, scarecrows, and mums will help me do that. I am hoping this little visitor will let my pumpkins survive until Halloween.

My fall porch sign is one of my favorite outdoor decorations. My husband thinks my signs are a bit ridiculous. He has never understood the sign in my kitchen that simply says KITCHEN in large letters. He is equally baffled as to why I feel the need to tell people it’s fall with a sign. Clearly, they should already be aware of that fact! But…I absolutely love them so we just agree to disagree where signs are concerned.

There is rarely a time that my lamppost is bare. Of course, it would be fine that way but where’s the fun in that?

Scarecrows are such fun to display inside and out. They have always been one of my favorite elements in fall decor. Putting a family of scarecrows on a bale of hay is the very picture of fall!

In fact, putting scarecrows anywhere are such a great seasonal touch!

Since this is my favorite place for sunset viewings, I keep a blanket handy for cool fall evenings.

Pillows for the swing, garlands, flags, and flowers all are a part of the front porch welcome.

Mums! Mums! and more Mums!

….and of course I have to have my buffalo check somewhere!

Last but not least are the lanterns! They are so essential to making a front porch warm and cozy.

It is prettier the darker it gets outside!

More Outdoor Spaces

I’m hoping to have, at the very least, another month to enjoy my favorite spots outside. We had an early snowfall here in Colorado. Just a dusting really but it was enough to prompt me to check a few more things off my fall cleanup list. My fairy houses have been put away for the rest of the year. Replaced with a few fall decorations

I’ve added some pretty fall flowers to the deck. We have spent so much time out here all summer and I know we will have many more dinners before closing up for the winter.

A couple of fall touches to the lower patio as well.

I am sure hoping this guy sticks around for Halloween! Perfectly beautiful prop!
