Spring Front Porch Refresh

The date on my calendar says it’s spring!  The mounds of snow outside begs to differ!  But the very fact that it’s still light outside at 6:00 pm makes me side with the calendar this time.

I’ve decorated the inside of our home to reflect the spring season.  I added all the greenery I could find.  Light pastel fabrics, pretty spring prints, and faux spring flowers grace every table. Despite the weather, it seems ridiculous to have pine cones, evergreen boughs, and winter signs just outside my door. So having shoveled all the snow from the last storm, I had a small window of opportunity to add some spring outside before the next round. Needless to say, I jumped on it!

Spring Lamppost

The one constant on the porch is the lamppost. I have several outdoor fixtures that can pretty much flood the neighborhood with light. I use those when my camera goes off and I see a stranger at my door. But if I’m expecting company, I prefer a warmer welcome.

The lamppost has a flickering candle bulb inside and I love the ambiance it creates. Although the base and pole are weathered and rusty, I have yet to find one I like as much. So I do what I always do, I decorate it! A spring garland and a pretty spring print and no one notices the rest! I also added some little fairy lights to the garland that twinkle.

Signs of the Season

Speaking of signs, I’ve added a couple others out here as well.  One that simply says Hi. Anyone visiting is greeted before they ever ring the doorbell! How welcoming is that? But if you need more than a simple “hi,” I also added a welcome! I love porch signs.  Mine are quite a bit larger for the other seasons so this one seems so tiny to me.  To compensate, I’ve put it on top of my milk can and added some greenery there as well.

April Showers…

Next I added my resin rain boots.  I bought these a few years ago and I still see them everywhere and in every color today.  I found some daisies and pussy willows in my craft bin.  Some bright yellow birds and this is a great addition to my spring front porch! I filled the bottom of the boots with rocks.   They are so light and when the wind comes up, they will fall over.  That is experience talking. This is my second pair!

Pretty Spring Lantern

My largest lantern is a front porch staple so of course it needed a touch of spring as well.  I love having a candle outside to greet visitors.  This one is made for the outdoors and handles the elements just fine.  I added some moss, a bunny and a little pot of dainty flowers.  A pretty spring bow and a little sign and it will take us all the way to summer!

Welcoming Wreath

Last but certainly not least, I hung my spring wreath as a final touch. I made this one quite a few years ago and have not felt the need to change it as I usually do.  The small lantern in the center is the perfect size and my battery operated tealight is so convenient. I can either set a timer which in normal times I would do.  These days since we have not been entertaining friends too often, I use the remote.  I can turn it on when I know someone is coming without even leaving my chair! A wreath is such a welcoming addition to a spring front porch.

A Spring Front Porch Completed

When everything is put together it is clear that spring has arrived at my front porch!

I love it most at dusk. When the lights come on and the candles are glowing. It’s a warm spring feeling.

Yes, a warm spring feeling– well kind of– until you turn around!

Oh well! It’s spring inside at least. I’m going in where it’s warm! Come join me and I’ll take you on my 2021 Spring Home Tour! There is a fire in the fireplace and the candles are glowing. Wine anyone?

  2. You are a trooper to create spring on your front porch while there is still snow outside. It is absolutely gorgeous. I love the wreath and the hi sign. But the entire look is really pretty. Thank you for sharing with #omhgww. See you next week & stay warm.
