My Favorite Must Have Decorating Tool

If your goal is to make your home a home of all seasons, there is one decorating tool that you simply can’t do without! It takes up virtually no space at all. Just a little obscure corner somewhere. With a few small changes, it can reflect every season and be very useful as well. It really is my favorite must have decorating tool!

I know…I know! A ladder??? It doesn’t look very impressive at all but…it will! Let me just take you through the seasons with my ladder. I will start with Summer.

Summer

Cute? I think so! Since my house is decked out with all things coastal right now, I just carried that right over to my ladder. A wreath with a sailboat fit the bill. I added a throw that is handy when you need it and a basket of shells finishes it off.

Fall

A ladder can move so easily from one season to the next. For autumn last year, I simply replaced the wreath and sailboat with a scarecrow and lantern. I replaced the throw and added knitted pumpkins where the shells had been. A eucalyptus garland adds a little greenery now that the wreath is put away.

Christmas

For Christmas, I started with an evergreen garland, added my favorite little lanterns, a few Christmas themed signs and bears! Did I mention I’m a bear collector? I have never ever found one that I didn’t want. My trunk full of bears remains in my family room all year long. I’m a little embarrassed to say there is a bin in my storage room with Christmas bears that is pretty much the same size! I know what you’re thinking but they needed a home!

Winter`

When Christmas is over, here in Colorado, we still have months of winter to go. The Christmas bears go back in their bin but the ladder stays just where it is. To transition from the holiday to the winter season, all that is red must go. A pine cone wreath tops the ladder, a soft white throw and more pine cones in the basket is all it takes.

Spring

Spring! Time for bunnies! I packed away the pine cone wreath and replaced it with the green that we were craving after a long winter. While I have never been a “pink” person, I’ve embraced it over the last few springs. Adding a pink throw and a basket full of bunnies and our ladder has come full circle!

Where can I get mine ???

Ladders come in every size and every finish imaginable. I’ve included a link to some of my favorites- Amazon Decorative Ladders. In the past, ladders were considered a farmhouse staple. These days with the multitude of choices, they can be a great addition to any style.

In just a few weeks my coastal ladder will be replaced with all the elements of fall. While I’m always sorry to see the summer slip away, I’m also ready to welcome in the new season. I love the colors, the scents, and the holidays that autumn will bring. With everything that has happened this year, I am more determined than ever to live each season to the fullest.

I am spending every last minute of the summer outdoors. While loving my summer outdoor spaces, I have not been completely unproductive! I’ve been working on my fall printables and I will be adding them to the library in just a few weeks. Here is a sneak peek of just a few that I will be adding soon!

    1. Hi Darenda, I have always used bakers twine to tie things on to the ladder. It’s extremely strong yet so easy to hide. Happy spring to you!
