Halloween Magic: Spooky Creations Past and Present

Halloween is coming soon and crafting for this holiday is incredibly fun! Today I’m sharing a spooky tiered tray design along with several of my favorite DIY projects that you may have missed. So grab that glue gun and let’s create a little Halloween magic!

This year, Halloween decor will be very centralized at my house. With a move still part of the future, I’ve been reluctant to unpack boxes that cannot take me through an entire season. With that in mind, I limited myself to consolidating all things Halloween on my favorite tiered tray. Today I’m sharing the process.

Spooky Halloween Tiered Tray Design

In my mind, every tiered tray design needs a base layer. I tend to always use greenery of one type or another. My base consists of a dark green fern garland along with some Spanish moss that I had on hand. For the most part, the base only serves to bring some depth to the tray as it will be barely visible in your finished project.

Choose your main elements for size and overall impact. Arrange them on the tray with your favorites to the front. Use risers or small boxes to raise elements you’d like to showcase. I love this little witch’s boot so I placed it on a small riser. The boot is the most expensive thing on my tray ($5.00 at Michaels this year.)

I used two of my own tiered tray signs that you can download and print below. I added the Foolish Mortal sign to an actual framed fall sign that I had here with just a strip of double sided tape. The Raven poem is taped to a small blank canvas from the Dollar Tree.

I used picks from the Dollar Tree and Michaels as elements and as filler. I found the rat poison sign and the potion bottles at the Dollar Tree. The witch hat and skull are sale items at Michaels.

It all came together quite nicely for less than $20.00.

As a final touch, I added some light up jack-o-lanterns from Walmart.

Just a Few Blasts from the Past

I have always loved autumn decor more than any other season. The traditional colors of fall give me that warm and cozy feeling. I’ve never wanted to give that up to go full on Halloween until the holiday is really upon us. Still, Halloween DIY projects are always such fun and I’m sharing some of my favorites below.

If the Hat Fits…

This simple DIY witch hat that I put together a few years ago remains at the top of my list today. Easy Peasy and just so cute!

This fun little broomstick welcomed several adorable trick or treaters over the years!

DIY Halloween Wreath

If a wreath is more your style, this post is for you! I made this wreath for my daughter’s front door years ago and it has held up beautifully. Wreaths are timeless and so pretty on a door, a mirror, or a wall as well.

Check out the post, DIY Halloween Wreath: Add a Spooky Welcome to Your Front Door. You’ll find complete instructions, links, and a free Salem Broom Company print.

I”m not sure what the holiday will look like here in Arizona this year. However, I am betting that I won’t have shivering little ghosts and goblins at my door. I’m looking forward to actually seeing all the cute costumes that won’t be covered up by big down coats!

As the warm up station for my Colorado neighborhood, I always made sure the entry was decked out in spooky splendor. You can check out the post, Create a Spooky Entry for more Halloween decorating ideas.
