When I think of summer drinks, the adjectives that pop into my head are cool , fruity, and refreshing. Lemonade, iced tea, and a pina colada spring to mind. That being said, I wouldn’t know how to start my day without a hot cup of coffee. Therefore, creating a Summer Coffee Bar is essential to the seasonal decor in my kitchen.
When life gives you lemons… Decorate a Summer Coffee Bar
Last year I added a few lemon accents around the kitchen and called it good. It was cute I thought but this year I wanted a little more yellow to brighten things up. Still loving the lemons, I decided what I really needed was to simply add more. The coffee bar seemed like the perfect place to start!
I love a glass of lemonade under the umbrella on my back deck. I love visiting the farmers market on weekends. And… I love coffee so I put it altogether and here’s what I came up with!
The coffee bar is always my first stop of the day so I felt I would need some positive reinforcement. Live more, worry less. Perfect!
Because that sign is a bit large I needed to add a balancing accent to the other side. I decided my cream metal steaming coffee cup was just the thing.
Since I limit myself to one cup a day now… it needs to be a big one! The mugs that I set aside to use on the summer coffee bar fit the bill.
Earlier this year I added a shelf above the bar. It’s a great place to store a few extra cups and to add to the lemony theme.
Lemon Light
My summer coffee bar needs a lamp as well. I have overhead lights in almost every room of my house and I never, ever, use them. I don’t think there is a warmer feeling then entering a lamplit room at dusk. The kitchen is no exception.
I have several fillable lamps that change with the seasons. In the interest of space, I chose my smallest one. Filled with little lemons, it is adorable on the bar!
Gotta Have Signs
And of course, at my house… there needs to be signs! I love signs and my summer coffee bar would not be complete without them.
Since lemons are the prominent theme in my kitchen this summer, I designed the tiered tray that sits on the bar accordingly. Keeping in mind that my valances, rugs, and runners are black and white buffalo checked, I brought that in as an accent as well.
Lemon Tiered Tray Design
A buffalo checked bag of lemons, my must have sugar bowl, and a mini sized lemon rolling pin complete the top tier.
The bottom half is a bit wider and allows a few more accents. A small yellow pot with some faux greenery brings in some additional color. Of course, the lemonade sign is needed just for the cuteness factor! (I decided to do my own take on that and you’ll see it below. ) I’ve also added some black and white stirrers and a few more lemons of course.
All in all I am happy with my lemon themed summer coffee bar!

That’s fresh and happy! Love that fillable lamp with lemons! Lemons are an everyday staple for me that I try to NEVER run out of.
Thanks Rita! Spring is not cooperating this year so I am switching the house over to summer! We are going on our 4th straight day of nonstop rain and temps in the 40’s. I am ready for warmth and sunshine!
Denise,
Love the black, white ans yellow color theme!! The splash of yellow just brightens up the whole area….I love your mini rolling pins…May I ask where you got them? Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
Hugs,
Debbie
Thanks so much Deb! They are a set of three gray ones I bought from Amazon. I change them with the seasons. So easy to print whatever you like, cut them out and attach them with double sided tape.
I love this lemon theme coffee bar. Great job!
Thank you Rebecca! They do seem to brighten things up a bit. So glad you stopped by! Have a wonderful weekend.

Thank you Dee! The kitchen is the only place in the house that I haven’t gone “coastal” in. But you never know!

I love the ceramic lemon wedge shaped light! Where did you get it from? Please let me know! I’ve been searching for something just like that and have come up with nothing even close.
Hi Bethany! I bought the lemon wedge a few years ago at Walmart. I did see it there last summer when they put out their seasonal decor. I just checked their site and I did not see it but maybe it will be back this summer. Good luck and thanks for stopping by!
May I ask where you got the “Live more, worry less” sign? Thank you!
Hi Susie! Unfortunately, I bought it several years ago at Hobby Lobby and I don’t think they carry it anymore. I have seen several different versions of it on Etsy though. Maybe you could find something similar there. Have a great day!
