After one brief storm that brought a dusting of snow, we are now enjoying some gorgeous autumn weather here in Colorado. I’m hoping to be able to squeeze in a few more dinners outside this year! With my fall dishes still packed away, I decided to simply add a few seasonal touches to my usual settings and share an outdoor fall tablescape with you.
Using my blue and white plates, chargers, and mats, my normal settings are always coastal and I love the look. I do think since we are now in October, a few minor changes are warranted!
Adding Fall Outdoors
Changing the placemats from my summer navy blue to a straw mat immediately changes the feel from summer to fall.
Adding a small blue/natural pumpkin with a fall sentiment was the next step. Thankful, grateful, blessed…all the things we reflect on as we approach the holidays.
Replacing my outdoor summer water glasses with a brown tinted glass goblet helps create a holiday feel. An outdoor fall tablescape can be as fancy or as simple as you wish.
Not wanting to change the coastal feel completely, I kept my sailboat napkins a part of this setting as well.
To create a fall centerpiece, I gathered together several neutral fall elements. Corn, pumpkins, and leaves are used for the base. Staying with the overall coastal feel, I placed the elements on a fishnet runner.
My favorite sailboat will work here too. Adding pumpkins in coastal colors, a few in navy blue for additional pop, and a fall sign will finish the center.
The final touch was to replace the summer flowers with colorful fall mums.
I’m happy with the end result! Fingers crossed that the weather stays nice through the month. I’m not quite ready to move indoors just yet!
Seasonal Elements
The best tablescapes are created with elements you can use throughout the season. Several that I used for this one are part of the seasonal decor for my lower level. You will see them used differently in my Decorating With Fall Neutrals post on the blog. I’ve also added the printables from that post to the Library for our subscribers who prefer a neutral look.

Hello Denise, Cristele here from Le Chateau De Pierre. It’s my first time stopping by. I just wanted to say this is a lovely rendition of a Fall tablescape. I am a firm believer that blue is the new neutral. I found you on Everything Fall 2020. My link is #89. I have also pinned you lovely photos.
Thanks so much Cristele! I love the blue mixed in with all the neutrals. Just popped over to check out your link as well. Thanks for the great tips in your post. So glad you stopped by!

Thanks Rebecca! Just saw the forecast for next week. Pretty sure this was my last outdoor dinner for quite awhile! FYI..I found the blue sign on a trip to Hobby Lobby.

Thank you Niki! So glad you liked it. I’m hoping it’s a mild fall here and we can do several dinners out on the deck this year too.
