Quick and Easy Dough Bowl Centerpiece

Fall!!!! Are you as excited as I am for it to arrive? I simply cannot wait! With all the beautiful colors that are so much a part of this season, I am so ready to bring them into my home! There are so many ways to do that but I’m starting with the simple things. A quick and easy dough bowl centerpiece is as simple as it gets!

Fall Dough Bowl Centerpiece

I love using my dough bowl in my decor. It adds a vintage feel to any setting and is so versatile. I especially love to incorporate it into my fall decor. I think maybe it’s just lends a homey feel to things.

This is another of those tools that is a must have in seasonal decor. I use it several times a year and change it regularly. It is a great centerpiece in the spring with bunnies, birds, and eggs. Great in the summer to hold a mix of potpourri and faux boxwood spheres. During the winter season, I fill it with different size trees, pine cones, and lights. But in the fall, it is the perfect place to display pumpkins of all shapes and sizes.

Mine will be used as a centerpiece on my dining room table during the harvest months. I keep it pretty simple since my dining room is full of traditional fall colors. A little greenery is needed to offset the yellows, orange, and reds that are everywhere in the room. In less than 10 minutes I had a new fall decoration I will enjoy all season.

Dough bowls come in many different sizes with many different finishes. I’ve included some links below to mine and several of my favorites. This one works well for me and I like the mix of wood and tin.

Adding the Elements of Fall

To start with, I used a simple green garland for the base. The leaves remind of the vines in a pumpkin patch. This was a grapevine garland I bought from Amazon awhile back. It actually had grapes attached but I removed them to use elsewhere. Since I may want to use it another time, I will simply scrunch it up to fill the bowl with some overlap for esthetics.

I love warm lighting in the fall so I added a small string of battery lights on a green wire in order to hide it among the vines. Although the lights have a timer, I hid the battery box off to the side for easy access when they need to be changed again.

Next I will add a few pumpkins. My table decor is very woodsy so the pumpkins need to coordinate. I use my birch Luminara pillars on each side and these pumpkins work well with them. They are mostly wooden ones with a few orange ceramics mixed in. I think they contrast each other well! Side note…I love Luminara! Although many companies now make the flickering flame battery candles, I have yet to find one that compares. They are pricey but I use them everyday in one spot or another so well worth it to me.

Keeping with the woodsy vibe, I have added these two adorable birds that I picked up at hobby lobby a few years ago. They make such a great addition to my dough bowl centerpiece.

Placed in the center of the my dining room table, I am happy with the end result!

A Different Take

A dough bowl can be styled in several different ways. My sister went traditional with hers and I absolutely love it! Pumpkins, berries, and leaves and she has a treasured harvest display!

I really could use a longer one on my table but I feel like mine works well with candles on each side. Amazon has quite a good selection if you’re considering doing one of your own this year. Simply click on the picture to link to your favorites.

I’ve also found so many great props to use in your dough bowl there!
