When Autumn Comes to Town

I realized as I drove through town last night that although I have taken you on a summer stroll through my hometown, and a brisk winter walk as well, I have not showed you my favorite season here. Well… today is a gorgeous day so let me show you what it’s like when autumn comes to town!

But… I Think I Love Fall Most of All

As I set out on my walk through my neighborhood, I stop at the top of the hill. I think how appropriate the quote by the poet, William Cullen Bryant, really is. “Autumn, the year’s last, loveliest smile.” How incredibly true!

The beauty of the changing leaves with the majestic Rockies as a backdrop is simply breathtaking.

There is rain in the forecast today but the clouds have not reached me here. I can see them building to the west yet it is blue skies above as I head out today.

There are so many beautiful paths I can follow to get to town. I choose my favorite that takes me through the adjoining neighborhoods, completely away from the main road.

The path takes me past the Slemmer Ranch Barn, one of Parker’s many historic sites.

The trail winds through fields and trees and there is no shortage of interesting sights along the way.

I exit my path and cross the bridge that will take me to Main Street and the Town of Parker.

The closer I get to town, the gaslights that add so much charm start to appear and the colors intensify.

I’m So Glad I Live in a World Where There Are Octobers

I love the victorian style buildings along my route!

The town does an amazing job decorating for each season and when autumn comes to town the corn stalks start popping up on every gaslight on Main Street.

Since we have already experienced a few mornings in the low 30’s, the large pots of flowers in the medians have seen better days. They’ve added some pumpkins to compensate and I hardly miss them!

With Halloween coming up fast, they’ve started bringing in a little bit of spooky to delight the little ones.

The signs of the season are everywhere in town.

It is just starting to sprinkle outside and since I am standing right in front of my favorite downtown coffee house, I’m going to need to duck inside for just a minute!

There is Always Something to Be Thankful For

With coffee in hand and the rain stopped for the moment, I took a quick walk down the street to the park I’ve shown you many times before. The leaves are slowly changing but it’s as lovely as always here! As I look around, I think of all the wonderful memories we’ve made here over the years. I will be forever thankful to have lived in this beautiful place.

The late afternoon sunshine has returned so it’s time to head home.

Thanks so much for sharing this time with me! It was such fun to show you what it looks like here when autumn comes to town!

    1. It is so pretty right now but in a few more weeks when you’re basking in the California sunshine, I’ll be here freezing in the snow!
