Spring Roundup: 5 Easy DIY Decorations

Spring will be here soon and while it’s still too early for a full on refresh, it’s the perfect time for a few easy DIY decorations for the new season.

It’s around this time every year where the coziness of winter starts to wane for me. After the busy Christmas season it’s great to spend some quiet days relaxing by the fire. I enjoyed every minute of it but the longing for spring gets stronger each day.

With that being said, I also find it depressing to have a fully decorated spring home when the weather outside is such a contrast. So to compromise, I usually start a few spring projects in anticipation of the coming season. I’ve shared five of my past favorites below, complete with links should you decide to try one yourself.

Spring Bird’s Nests and Decorative Branch

One of the best parts of spring for me is watching the birds that left us for the winter slowly start to return. It’s usually the robins who seem to arrive first. They will build their nests in the eaves around the patio. I love watching them work and while I’m excited for their eggs to hatch, with 3 dogs patrolling the yard, it’s a bit nerve wracking too.

I use several birds and nests in my spring decor. They are quite easy to make and so pretty to look at. You can find a short tutorial here along with all the supplies you’ll need to make one of your own today.

Last year, I decided to combine two projects and used one of my bird’s nests to make another pretty spring decoration. The perfect use of a branch that came down in a spring storm. You’ll find all the details for this one in the same link above.

Spring Candle Rings

Spring is a great time to add a little greenery to your decor. I tend to stick with all things “faux” this time of year. Still, it’s also the time when I’m longing for the smell of spring flowers. I combined the two with some pretty candle rings made with faux greenery and then added some spring scented candles. It’s as easy as can be and you will find the tutorial here.

The candle rings are a great size to use as an accent for a potted plant as well.

Spring Fairy Projects

Springtime and fairies seem to go hand and hand to me. Apparently I’m not the only one! My spring fairy lantern remains the most popular of my Springtime DIY decorations to date. It is such a fun little project and I’m still using mine today. You will find the detailed “How to” right here.

Since my fairy lantern is such a favorite, last year I decided to put together a terrarium in much the same way. While I have changed the plants in the lantern several times due to growth, the terrarium is more of a permanent thing. Check it out here!

With this is a roundup, all the DIY decorations you see here have their own posts. You’ll find detailed tutorials as well as links to similar items you can use to make them uniquely yours.

  1. So pretty! I really like numbers 4 and 5, the tiny lights look so nice! Thanks so much for linking up at the Unlimited Link Party 72. Hey, where are your share buttons? I have the Pinterest browser thingy but don’t use it unless the post has share buttons as I’m aware not everyone wants their things shared on social media.

  2. Love the bird’s nest and the spring candle wreaths but the lantern with the fairy inside of it really stole my heart!! So charming!! Thanks so much for stopping by and for your kind words about the story about my Dad..Stay safe, healthy and happy!!
