6 Simple Ways to Sprinkle Spring in the Kitchen

A new season is upon us and I cannot wait to say “WELCOME!” I’m shouting because I want to make it clear to the lingering winter weather that its time is up. I’m ready to move on. Go away! Now… to drive my point home, today I’m sharing 6 simple ways to sprinkle spring in the kitchen.

As I write this post, it is a balmy 25 degrees outside. Although the official arrival of the spring season is still a few days away, I’m making some changes in preparation. Some spaces needed just a little seasonal update. Others, like the coffee bar for instance, required a full on redo. Either way, I’m determined spring will arrive in my kitchen today!

1. Sprinkle Some Spring on Everyday Items

Sometimes adding a bunny to something that sits in your kitchen every day of the year is enough. My kitchen scale is always out on my island for two reasons… one, I think it’s cute and two, there is nowhere else to put it!

The bowl on top held a small tree for the winter season. Today, the tree has been replaced by the cutest little bunny, a birds nest, and some greenery.

Likewise, my KitchenAid mixer is too big for the available cupboard space I have and it’s incredibly heavy. It stays in place all year long as well. Rather than sitting there, bored and being nothing more than a mixer, I’ve assigned it the task of becoming a pretty seasonal decoration and I have to say… it aced it!

If you are one of the lucky ones with ample storage for mixers and scales, substitute a pretty colander instead.

With my buffalo checked kitchen decor, I simply couldn’t resist the black and white carrots and eggs!

2. Display a Few Spring Dish Towels or Plates

A sprinkle of spring can be as simple as hanging a pretty seasonal dishtowel on a kitchen rail or a ladder.

Pull out your Easter plates and use a cute one as a decoration.

It doesn’t have to cost a fortune to bring in the new season. Take advantage of the things you have on hand. Remember, it’s always best to shop your home before heading to HomeGoods!

3. Print and Frame a Pretty Spring Printable

A pretty printable can give your seasonal decorating a wonderful boost. At little or no cost, they are the perfect way to bring the essence of the season to the forefront.

There are several available to all subscribers in the Printable Library. Even a couple for that tiered tray I know you’re itching to update for spring. I’ve shared a few fun tiered tray designs in my latest post, 3 Easy Ways to Style a Fabulous Spring Tiered Tray. Obviously, I couldn’t wait either!

4. Bring in the Green

Another wonderful way to update your kitchen for spring, is to bring in the green! Plants, pictures, a rooster made of moss and ivy… oh is that just me? Fine! But look how adorable he is perched above the cabinets.

Topiaries are another spring staple that are great in the kitchen.

Adding one to a vignette on the counter makes for such a pretty picture!

5. Add a Wreath or Two, or Three, or Four

It’s time to move on from the evergreen boughs and bring in a little Springtime green. Adding small wreaths to a cabinet is the another fun way to sprinkle some spring in the kitchen. My lamb’s ear wreaths are the perfect accents for the seldom used cabinet above the stove.

Another favorite is a faux boxwood wreath that I use here quite often. To bring it into the spring season, I’ve added a sitting bunny and a birdhouse.

Still another wreath graces the kitchen door that leads outside. When the weather finally warms, this door will see a lot of action.

It leads to the deck and the perfect spot for my morning coffee. Speaking of coffee…

6. Create a Spring Coffee Bar to Brighten Up Your Day

For me, a big part of the fun in decorating comes from changing up my coffee bar every 3 months. It’s the perfect spot for a seasonal refresh. Whether it’s a designated counter or an actual bar, sprinkling a little bit of spring to the place where you start your day is amazing.

This year, my theme revolves around the Cottontail Coffee and Tea Company. The wreath above the bar is the main focal point. I made it from a printable that is available to all subscribers in the Printable Library.

Since the sign says the patrons here will receive a free chocolate bunny with every cup, of course I needed to feature a few!

A smaller sign (also available) pulls the tiered tray into the theme as well.

A special springtime coffee bar is a wonderful way to start the morning this season!

    1. Thanks Glenda! I’m so glad you like it. Nothing like a cozy spring kitchen to chase the winter blues away!

  1. Hi Denise, first let me tell you that your Spring decor looks wonderful! So cozy and inviting! I’m sure your attention to detail takes time, but so worth all the effort! So easy to get decorating ideas from you! I enjoy your seasonal printables, too, and have printed a few to frame.

I have a question for your about your kitchen cupboards. Wondering if you had those refaced or replaced, or are they the original cupboards? We have an outdated 80’s kitchen with oak cupboards. I’m trying to collect some ideas to possibly have them refinished or refaced. I like the lighter glaze look, and like the look of your cupboards. Any information you can share would be appreciated! Thank you! Happy early Spring to you!! 🌷☀️

    1. Hi Sally! Thank you so much for your kind words. I did a post quite awhile ago on the kitchen update. It does have the information on the cupboards. They are the original cabinets and I could not be happier with the way they turned out! Good luck with your renovations and thank you again! Updating the Kitchen. Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions on the process.

  2. All of you spring kitchen accents are lovely, Denise! Love that mixer!!! Copper is perfect for fall AND spring! I’m delighted to be featuring your post at Tuesday Turn About this week! Pinned!
